Dr. Bishop Akolgo is a seasoned development economist and a member of the NORPRA Governing Board. With over 30 years of extensive experience in local, national, and international development, he is recognized as a leading expert in economic governance, social justice, and capacity building. He is the former Executive Director of the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC), where he played a pivotal role in advancing economic and social policies that benefit underserved communities.
Since 2000, Dr. Akolgo has been actively involved in evaluating bilateral agency interventions, strengthening organizational and institutional capacity for various civil society organizations (CSOs), and promoting natural resource governance in Ghana and West Africa. His work has been instrumental in influencing budgets, economic policies, and sustainable development practices.
Dr. Akolgo’s expertise spans a broad range of areas, including monitoring and evaluation, governance, capacity building, research, policy analysis, and macroeconomic modeling. He is currently engaged in research and modeling on illicit financial flows and their implications for development in Ghana. His ability to provide technical support to African governments in identifying and recovering revenue lost through trade mispricing has been critical in enhancing domestic revenue mobilization for national budgets and the financing of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
